KTUR² at the Käpsele Innovation Festival: Bridging the Gap Between Fundamental Research and Market Innovation

On July 16th, the KTUR² (Knowledge Transfer Upper Rhine) consortium will make its mark at the Käpsele Innovation Festival at the Freiburg Exhibition Center. Under the theme „Where Fundamental Research Meets Market Innovation,“ the consortium aims to highlight the vital synergy between academic exploration and entrepreneurial application.

A key highlight of the event is the high-energy panel discussion, „Future Tech Unpacked: How Fundamental Research Creates New Markets,“ starting at 5:00 PM. The panel features a powerhouse of experts, including Valerie Lang (University of Freiburg), Sven J. Koerner (KIT alumnus), and Manuel Yguel (University of Strasbourg). Together, they will explore the „magic“ of the laboratory—discussing how curiosity-driven research in fields such as AI and robotics is transformed into viable products and new market opportunities.

The participation of KTUR² underscores the strength of the trinationale cooperation across Germany, France, and Switzerland. By bringing together leading minds from the University of Freiburg, KIT, and the University of Strasbourg, the event serves as a hub for SMEs, startups, and tech enthusiasts to connect and accelerate the transition from science to business.
