The latest Startup BBQ at the University of Freiburg brought together founders, innovators, and supporters for an inspiring evening dedicated to EXIST Women – Start-ups from Science, a program designed to empower female entrepreneurs and their business ideas.
The highlight of the night was the startup pitches by the EXIST Women Fellows from the University of Freiburg – Lena Binkowski, Lina Graf, Sarah Huber, and Shakiba Moradian – who presented their innovative concepts and shared insights into their entrepreneurial journeys.
Another key moment was the panel discussion featuring founders Saskia Bauer (ALPIN8), Esra Mandaci (Experinauten gUG), and Lara Wolf (FUTUR F), alongside investor Daniela Brack (Black Forest Business Angels). The conversation, moderated by Frauke Lorenzen (University of Freiburg Startup Office), addressed opportunities and challenges for female founders as well as the importance of networks and support structures.
Afterwards, the community gathered outside for the BBQ and networking session – exchanging ideas, connecting with like-minded people, and continuing conversations in a relaxed atmosphere that stretched well into the evening.
The event also sparked early interest in the next round of the EXIST Women program. The University of Freiburg is now preparing its funding application to continue offering this initiative.
Conclusion: The Startup BBQ once again underlined the importance of visibility, exchange, and support for female founders. It was an evening full of energy, inspiration, and entrepreneurial spirit – sending a strong signal that female entrepreneurship in Freiburg is on the rise.
Thanks for the wonderful photos, Silvia Wolf.
