EXIST Start-up Grant
The EXIST Start-up Grant is a nationwide funding program that supports innovative start-ups from universities and non-university research institutions in their early stages.
The EXIST start-up grant supports the development of a product/service idea and the preparation of a business plan through to the establishment of a company.
Who is eligible for funding?
- Scientists from universities and non-university research institutions.
- University graduates or former research assistants (up to five years after graduation or departure).
- Students who have completed at least half of their studies at the time of application.
- Start-up teams of up to three people.
What is eligible for funding?
- Innovative technology-oriented start-up projects.
- Innovative services with high customer value, based on scientific findings and expected to offer unique selling points on the market.
How is funding provided?
- maximum funding period: one year
- Students who have completed at least half of their studies receive €1,000 per month.
- Technical employee: 2,000 euros per month
- Graduates with at least one university degree: €2,500 per month
- Founders with doctorates: €3,000 per month
- For team start-ups, material resources amount to up to €30,000.
- Start-up coaching: €5,000
- One of the up to three team members may also be supported with qualified vocational training as a technical employee, or a team member's degree may have been obtained more than five years ago.
